MISSION STATEMENT
“JUST VOTE” IS A CALGARY BASED GRASS ROOT NON PARTISAN MUSLIM COMMUNITY FACILITATION TEAM TO ENCOURAGE POLITICAL PARTICIPATION BY CITIZENS IN GENERAL AND MUSLIM CITIZENS IN PARTICULAR IN THE ELECTORAL PROCESS OF THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY. IT IS NOT A POLITICAL ENTITY IN ITSELF BUT IS THERE TO HELP THE EXISTING POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS
GUIDLINES FOR JUST VOTE

PURPOSE To increase awareness of political process in the community for positive participation in the larger Canadian societySTRUCTURE The core structure of this team will consist of 14 councils, based on the current city wards. Each council will consist of 5-10 council representatives and membership will consist of any number of Muslims living in that particular ward. Each council will be represented by “Ward Council Coordinator”. The 14 city coordinators will select rotating “Central Coordinator”. The organizing committee, consisting initially of the founding members will function for a period of two years and subsequently seven members picked up by the 14 Council Coordinators will replace the existing organizing committee.
ACTIVITIES
- Understanding the political needs of the Community
- Having “JUST VOTE” council and city coordinators meetings at least biannually or quarterly
- Meeting with the City, Provincial or Federal candidates
- Supporting electoral process
- Helping community understand the candidates
- Facilitating their decision making
- Helping to vote without forcing or coercing
- The committee or the team will remain non partisan
- Continuing to build relationship with the elected representatives
